Margot Basson is gekeur om aan die Sanlam Musiekkompetisie vir laerskool leerders deel te neem wat vanaf 22 tot 26 September in die Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium plaasvind. Sy slaag haar Unisa Gr 3 praktiese eksamen met 94% en verower ook twee trofeë op die Tygerberg Eisteddfod. Laerskool Kenridge is baie trots op jou, Margot.

Chess / Skaak

Louis Niewoudt (Gr 7), Reece Lourens (Gr 5), Christiaan Coetzee (Gr 6), Cameron Phyfer (Gr 4) and Pieter Coetzee (Gr 4), and Arnold Niewoudt (Gr 5) played their hearts out at a chess WP Top Schools Tournament on Saturday. Hulle het derde plek behaal en gaan nou tot die nasionale toernooi deur. Baie geluk. They also receive WP colours.

Netball

The under 10 A netball players from Kenridge Primary participated in a netball tournament at De Tyger Primary. They were awarded the trophy for the winning team after winning all four of their matches.

Xhosa Eisteddfod

The Tygerberg Eisteddfod is in full swing and on 23 July 2008 Kenridge made history by entering a group of children in the Xhosa category. They received HIGHEST HONOURS for their play and dance.

Khule Ndaba, Natasha Marnewick, Lara Sebestiny, Courtney Petersen, Monique Bartch and Graciella de Gouveia and behind them their Xhosa teacher, Titshalakazi Zoleka Khonyeni.

Chess

Reece Lourens (5PG) has been selected to play chess for the WP Schools Squad. He will compete against players from Boland and SWD Schools for a place in the Western Cape Team, which will participate in the National Schools Chess Championships in Pretoria during the July school holiday. We are holding thumbs for you, Reece.

Kenridge Pupils at SA Lifesaving Champs

Lara Du Plessis, Adam Austin Lisa-Mari Breedt and Karla Bekker took part in the 75th South African Stillwater Lifesaving Championships.

Lara was crowned the Victrix Ludorum for girl's u/12 and performed exceptionally well in both the pool and dam events. Both Lisa-Mari and Karla took part in the girls under 10 where they won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Karla was the youngster in the under 10 team as she is only 8 years old. Adam had a good championship competing in the boys under 14 division and had some gigantic competition from the boys up north.

All 4 swimmers stood out for their discipline and good sportsmanship that they displayed over the entire duration of the championship. They also contributed individual points to the Western Province Nipper Team which was crowned the National Champions for 2008.

Cricket

Our First Cricket Team played Fish Hoek on Saturday, 23 February. Kenridge beat Fish Hoek by 176 runs. The best bowler was Antonio Ferreira who took 4 wickets for 11 runs. Michael Cursons made 50 runs and Bryan Edwards 176 not out. What an achievement for these young cricket players.
