GRADE R
The Reception Year programme offered at our school is a diverse programme encompassing the child's development and how he perceives his world. We aim to develop and build a child's self-concept. This is done by creating situations in which our young learner is able to achieve success. We facilitate a sense of self-worth in our learners. This includes being respected for who and what they are by their peers and teachers. Our most important objective is to achieve a level of readiness for formal schooling in Grade One. However, readiness cannot be taught. We, therefore, structure the morning in order to expose the young child to situations and experiences, which assist him in acquiring the readiness skills whilst in a play environment.
Any developmental lags identified through our continuous evaluations, would be referred to a Support Team who would assist the child through Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy or Psychological Support.
The fact that we are under the "parentage" of the Primary school has afforded us so many benefits. We are able to complement our programme with the excellent credentials offered by this facility. Our learners receive music, movement education, computers and Xhosa tuition from educators who offer these professionally.
Over and above these stimulating activities, we also offer a wide choice of optional extra-mural activities which are found on the Menu Forms. These include playball, pottery, karate, ju-jitsu, music appreciation, ballet, tennis and swimming. This form will be issued on Orientation Day.
We have a highly motivated, enthusiastic staff. Each educator is fully committed to providing an enriched and structured learning environment.
We hope that our learners and their parents will experience the thrilling, exciting, educational adventure that Reception Phase education is all about here at Kenridge Primary School.

GRAAD R
