If you were not a teacher, what would you have liked to do?
A lawyer
What is your most memorable moment as a teacher?
At the end of last year, after having a class with learners who could not see eye-to-eye at the beginning of the year, giving each other Christmas gifts that suited each one's personality to a T!
How long have you been teaching at Kenridge, and what other schools have you taught at?
23 years. Kenridge was my first school. I am as happy as a king here.
What would you like to change in our school/schooling?
Nothing, as our SMT keep changing things for the better, but a free lunch and cold drinks during the day would be nice.
What primary school and high school did you attend?
Robertson Girls' Primary School / Robertson High School - a real country girl!
What do you do for relaxation?
When I find the time - reading, embroidering, walking the dogs and listening to music. I also love listening to the radio.
What sport do you like to play or watch?
I watch my son play cricket at school, which is very relaxing. I watch hockey on TV as I am a hockey player.
What type of music do you like?
Gospel, classical, opera and some of the more contemporary music, provided that it is not too noisy.
What is your favourite food dish, and which restaurant do you visit frequently?
Sushi. I don't like going to restaurants as my husband is a fantastic cook. I prefer to eat his food, but when he gets tired of entertaining me, we go to Lemon Butta at Willowbridge (seafood restaurant).
Do you have pets, and if so, what are they?
Yes, 2 dogs - a spaniel, a boerbull - and our petite cat called "Mouse".
Who is your role model?
My husband, who is always very calm. My headmaster, as he has taught me much about interpersonal relationships!
What subject do you enjoy teaching the most?
Maths, Maths, Maths. I love to see the light being switched on when learners suddenly understand a concept.
If the school offered to pay to send you anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go?
Canada! I have dear friends there who have shared some of their teaching strategies with me and I would like to go and investigate that.
What words/slogan do you live by?
Attitude determines your altitude.
There is power in prayer.
